Yahaluwo’ (sl)goes to Goa

Veteran filmmaker Ms. Sumitra Peries's latest movie 'Yahaluwo' (Friends) will represent Sri Lanka at the 39th International Film Festival of India in Goa

The film revolving around the ethnic issue in Sri Lanka will be represented at the competitive section at the festival scheduled to be held from November 22 to December 2. Based on a story written by Sri Lankan writer Fahima Sahabdeen, veteran actor Tony Ranasinghe created the dialogues for the film and the film is produced by Dr. Namal Senasinghe.
The film brings a story of different ethnic groups with the representation by characters Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and Burgher communities. The film has key roles of Sinhala driver, Tamil gardener, Muslim maid and Burgher music teacher played by Asoka de Zoysa, Raja Ganeshan, Gangu Roshana and Vasanthi Chaturani.
Others in the cast include Sujeewa Senasinghe who makes his debut role and Pooja Uma Shankar, Himasal Thathsara Liyanage, Iranganie Serasinghe, Tony Ranasinghe, Kamal Addarachchi, Anarkali Jayatilleke, Swetha Hansa, Rathna Sumanapala and Thesara Jayawardena.
